Description

The concept of good and evil is eternal.

By acknowledging the existence of good in the world one gives birth to the concept of evil as well. One cannot exist without the other.

So are good and evil different or pretty similar? Just as evil fights good, good fights evil. It's all violence. You cannot separate them.

Here I present this piece I did over a week. Two monk-like men in an eternal battle. Obvious who is the evil one and who is the good one, yet each have enough features to probably be considered the other type. Why is the good fighter attacking? Why is the bad guy defending? Or are they really a good guy and bad guy?

I leave all the symbolism or hidden meanings to you. The title alone should be enough to get you started.

How it was made: Three sketches. One was completely sketchy with captions and rough look. Completely different from the final result. The second draft is almost identical, with the left fighter in a more swift pose. The third sketch fixed a really bad perspective I felt the right fighter had, and the end result is what I envisioned. The final piece presented here was done with a brush pen, with careful thin brush strokes that shaped up this image. I did use a white out pen to add some detail on black surfaces, but it was fairly minimal.

The piece was not made digitally, but I did touch up some contrast for the sake of not having the brush strokes so evident.
